Evaluation of Fetuses with Intrauterine Hydrocephaly with Diffusion-Weighted Imaging

چکیده
Objective: Hydrocephaly is an important factor for neurological development. Microstructural changes of cerebral tissue are detected in diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), and abnormal brain development can be early. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate fetuses with hydrocephaly by magnetic resonance (MRI). Method: our nineteen twenty-two without any pathology were analyzed retrospectively. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) fetal frontal, parietal, temporal white matter, cerebellar hemisphere pons measured. Case control groups compared statistically. Results: When the individuals study terms trimester, no significant difference found (p>0.05). parietal matter ADC values both compared, between (p<0.05). Individuals group also had lower values. cerebellum Conclusions: one most common congenital anomalies. Increased cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure causes parenchymal compression, thus reducing perfusion ischemia. As a result ischemia, lactate concentration increases transfers into cell. Then, restriction decrease occur. Measurement gives information about provide early recognition problems that may occur postnatal period.

Diffusion-weighted imaging in fetuses with severe congenital heart defects.
Fetal diffusion MR imaging was performed in 3 fetuses with CHD. ADC values in the periatrial WM, thalamus, and basal ganglia were compared with those in a control population of fetuses. Diffusivity in the periatrial WM and thalamus was higher for the fetuses with CHD compared with controls. These observations support the finding of abnormal in utero brain development in fetuses with CHD.

متن کاملContribution of diffusion-weighted imaging in the evaluation of diffuse white matter ischemic lesions in fetuses: correlations with fetopathologic findings.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The sensitivity of fetal MR imaging is poor with regard to the evaluation of diffuse ischemic white matter (WM) abnormalities. Our purpose was to evaluate the contribution of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in the analysis of microstructural changes in WM and to correlate neuroimaging with neurofetopathologic findings. MATERIALS AND METHODS We included fetuses with MR ...
